Satan can come to you as an angel of light - 13th May 2008
Today we continue with lessons from the devil’s speak. We will look at the next few verses of Isaiah 36 where we read about Sennacherib threatening Jerusalem:
" 'Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them! How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master's officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen? Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the LORD? The LORD himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.' "
Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to the field commander, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Don't speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall."
But the commander replied, "Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the men sitting on the wall—who, like you, will have to eat their own filth and drink their own urine?" Isaiah 36:8-12 [NIV]
Lessons:
· When the devil sees that you are adamant in believing the word of God for your breakthrough, he will try throwing bait for compromise. He will bring temptations into your life – the temptation to spend a little more using your credit card. He will bring “competition” from neighbours and friends and cause you to spend more
· And here is the best joke of them all – he will claim that he is actually one with God – that he is coming in the great name of El Shadai, Jehovah Rapha, the Alpha and Omega, etc. He will seduce you into committing sexual immorality or suicide for “a good reason”.
· He will name and shame you in public. He will speak to you in your own language. He will embarrass you in front of your family, peers and workmates - all this in a vain attempt to shake your confidence in the Lord.
What is our Christian response to this?
Isaiah 7 vs 4 and 6 has the answers:
4 ……….'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.
Confess and remind the enemy that:
7 …….this is what the Sovereign LORD says: " 'It will not take place, it will not happen, …
