‘House’ #2 – “Humility is only for people who make mistakes” – 8 May 2008
I have to first point out that I do not agree with this, it is a quote from the man himself (Dr House in the TV show)
When someone tells House he should be more like another doctor because the other doctor is more humble, House responds:
“I don’t need to be humble; humility is only for people who make mistakes. If you are always right then you don’t need to worry about being humble.”
I love that, partly it is his character summarised in a sentence. But also I think there is something good in it. Not specifically about being humble – I think we should always be totally humble.
But he is so sure of himself and his convictions, where Christians are not. We are timid when it comes to big decisions and so apologetic if we have to say something harsh to someone.
But don’t, if it is from God – be strong. Be faithful.
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power” – that’s from the Bible (2 Tim 1:7) and as good as House is, the Bible is better.
Be strong in your convictions. |
