‘House’ #1 – Nothing is a waste of time – 7 May 2008
“House” is amazing!!
If you have not watched it, find a way to (it is a US TV Hospital drama series starring Hugh Laurie). The first time I watched it was when I got back for Easter 3 weeks ago, and since then I have watched more than 67 episodes!
I know that is too much, but I have spent all my free time doing it – it is brilliant!
However, I don’t see that as a waste of time. Yes, I maybe could have done more – but I have learnt from it. About medicine (it is a medical show), and God has shown me things about my character and about how people should be.
God can speak through anything. We just have to listen.
67 episodes at 45 minutes each works out at 50.25 hours - which is too much! But without being arrogant, I think the amount of time I have spent talking to God has been more.
Not just sitting and chatting, but while I walk / work / read / row / play guitar / watch “House” even, I chat with God.
That’s the thing, if it is just pointless tasks then we can’t hear God, but if we spend time reflecting on what we have done, then God speaks. I walk at least 4 miles a day, and that is an amazing time to chat with God.
Things are not a waste of time if we are spending more time with God, and we learn from everything we do. |
