Inside wall or outside wall? – 5 May 2008
On Friday I thought it was about time I fixed my guitar to my wall using a bracket I have had for over a year.
I found the perfect spot and borrowed my housemate’s drill. He warned me that I should put it on an outside wall as plaster board is not strong enough to support a guitar. I decided not to listen, and promptly poked a hole in the plasterboard where I thought there might be a wooden beam…it turns out there was not one, and I am glad I didn’t hang the guitar there!
Eventually I found a spot and fitted it to the wall, after moving a bookcase (with all the books still on it!).
I should have listened – only the outside walls are strong enough to hold things that matter. And only God is strong enough to support you in your life. (See what I did there!)
True, some people are walls in life, to support the rest, and can hold small things (pictures if you still need the analogy). But don’t put everything on them. Everyone will fall – put it all on Jesus.
If you are someone who always likes to take the weight, don’t – lead people to lean on Jesus. You can take a bit, but you just can’t take it all! |
