The price is paid - 19 March 2008

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:5-6

Jesus, the Lamb of God, came to take away the sin of the world; He achieved that aim on the cross. Jesus paid the price, suffered the penalty, for the sin of the world; for our sin.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Jesus has released us; through his death on the cross we are free; nothing left to pay. We have not earned it; we have done nothing to deserve it but Jesus paid the price for our freedom anyway; paid it in full. God’s grace is so amazing.

God’s love knows no bounds; it’s hard to take in; it’s easy to take for granted.

Take time today to be still with God and think on what Jesus did for each of us in going to the cross. Let the true meaning of the Easter story sink in.

Then thank the Lord for what He has done.
Thank you, Jesus.

Amen
