Give the glory to God (4) - 28 February 2008
I have a friend – first off I know that is amazing - more than that she is a clever friend. Really smart actually, a lot more than me - and she always seems to do amazingly well in essays.
I have said she is smart, so that is not surprising – the trouble is she always does the work the day before. And still gets a 1st.
Personally I don’t mind, I work hard and do worse – but she is smarter than me so it is OK.
The theme of this week’s Devotionals seems to have been God’s glory – and she says that her work is a result of Him. This is cool. She does the work the night before, prays for a good mark and when she gets it tells people it was Jesus.
This is not the time to discuss whether It was her brain power (given by God), or a miracle that gets her a good mark – I have a different point.
That does not really bring God glory – to an extent it does. But if it keeps happening people just think she is stupid for not trying. Then God doesn’t get the glory.
She has to do work, and then she can say God gave her gifts and she can live a life that shows him glory.
You have gifts – work hard and have them display God. Don’t expect him to get you out of holes! |
