Give the glory to God (3) – 27 February 2008
God will give his glory when we ask.
I love the story of Moses going up Sinai and meeting God. He sees God’s back and it is so glorious that when he walks down the mountain his face is shining. (Exodus 33-34)
Don’t you want that - to shine with God’s glory to the world?
Moses didn’t get to that place by his own doing. He got there by respecting God, and submitting to him.
He asked to see God’s glory – and we can do that too. But he asked because he was mystified by God. He knew God was amazing, and wanted to be part of that – maybe so he could know God better?
He didn’t want to shout about himself, or how holy he was.
I assume you want to see some of the glory of God – if not, you should – but why do you want it?
It should be because you want God to be lifted up on earth. Not because you want to have a bright face so people will know you are holy.
If it is for Him your face will shine and God will have more glory!! |
