Life is about choices – 21 February 2008
In the Holy Bible, God has given us everything we need to know about life. However according to Deut. 30: 19 – 20, there is something he cannot do for us, i.e. make choices for us:
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Where we are in doubt he has asked us to come to Him and ask. In our walk of faith we are all called to act according to what the Lord has said, i.e. to be doers of the word and not just listeners. We are called to live by faith
Now as we teach ourselves to be doers of the word, we have to understand that we are made up of the spirit, the soul (mind, will and emotions) and we live in the body.
The spirit feeds on the word and the more we feed the more faith we have. Next we need to “meditate on the things above” and bring our soul in line with our faith. Finally we have to bring our body in line with what we have planted and established in our soul and spirit. The body is not the leader but a follower of our spirit and soul and not vice versa.
The word will take you as far as it goes once you are able to bring your spirit, soul and body in harmony. This is why in Mark 4 Jesus teaches us:
The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Mark 4: 14-15
Why is it that Satan does not want the word in your mind? He fully knows that if the word is established in your spirit, then it will produce a harvest. To counter this he corrupts the mind by putting God’s children under pressure and fear and causes them to speak words of unbelief. So if you see yourself getting wrong results despite all the prayers, try checking the words you speak when subjected to pressure for out of the belly comes what one believes. I have heard of many testimonies of people who have changed the way they spoke about a given situation with fantastic results.
As Christians, our standard should be Christ and we know that He was never loose with words. I truly believe that since He was God whatever He said could easily become whatever He said hence why The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Matthew 4: 3.
Now I think you see why I need to repent. I am not very consistent. I don’t know about you?
