Monday 18th February - When The Lord Rejoices Over You.
I am sure as God’s child, you, like me are in the habit of checking your bearings to see if you are still on the right course. This is why we sometimes pray, read the bible, etc to “wash our robes clean” Rev 22: 14
Recently on 17th January 2008, I found myself praying, “Lord, are you pleased with me? Please tell me as a friend freely shares what’s on his heart with a friend. Did you not say that we are your friends? John 15: 14 – 15. If I am not good enough as a friend, how about You speaking to me as a father speaks to a son keen to please his dad?”
After this prayer I went to bed. Then in a vision that night, I dreamt chewing some gum and when all the sweetness had gone, I tried to remove the sugarless sticky stuff out of my teeth and mouth but it wouldn’t come off! It was so bizarre and it took a great amount of determination to get rid of the mess. I also saw the same but old non bio-degradable stuff scattered on the ground around me and I had to pick it all up and throw it into a bin, before I woke up.”
The things of God are foolishness to those without the Spirit and this is because they are spiritually discerned 1 Corinthians 2:14
When I woke up the next morning, I did what I have committed myself to do many years ago – spend the first hour of the day with the Lord, reading the scriptures and glorifying His Name. During this time the Lord spoke clearly to me as a father speaks to a son whom he loves. He led me straight to a passage in the scripture which I would have skipped that morning (because I had other things in mind). Suddenly, He made the connection between my prayer, the strange dream and His answer:
My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad; my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right. Proverbs 23: 15 – 16
So here we go, the Lord spoke to me in a dream. He confirmed this with the scriptures. He answered my prayer and now I know what I need to work on this year. However, I am not alone. I am sure all of us have the same challenge to deal with and so this week I am led to dedicate my devotionals to the words we speak and how we displease the Lord |
