Chosen by God – 7 January 2008

Living our lives as Christians is only possible if we are rooted in relationship with Jesus. Yet it is so easy to lose our relationship with Christ in the busyness of our everyday lives.

As I begin a New Year I am ever more conscious of my need to be led more by Jesus, knowing him and understanding his will; being in relationship with Jesus is what enables me to be and do all that God desires for me.

And that in itself is an amazing thought – God has desires for me! In fact, he has chosen me and he has chosen you to be in relationship with Him, which means that who we are is not as important as who we are 'in Christ'.

“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

We have been called out of the darkness of a life without God, into the world of light, into the revelation of God’s truth and into relationship with Jesus.

Do take some time to reflect on your relationship with Jesus, and ensure that your life and work flows from that relationship, that you are working from his love, not for his love.

You’ve probably already made and broken some New Year resolutions – when it comes to a resolution to put your relationship with Jesus first in your life, it’s never too late to start, and you can start afresh everyday – in fact that is the only way!

One of the ways I keep close to him is by spending time in reading the bible – maybe you’d like to join me in reading the bible in a year – follow this link for more information.

I pray you have a blessed New Year!
